ADAS calibrationand wheel alignment

Modern cars use cameras and sensors for lane assist, emergency braking and parking. After a bumper, screen or structural repair those systems need recalibrating, and the wheels need aligning, so everything works as the manufacturer intended.

Front camera

Behind the windscreen, it reads the road for lane assist and emergency braking. A new windscreen or front-end repair can knock it out of line, so it’s recalibrated afterwards.

Front radar

Behind the grille or bumper, it measures the distance to traffic ahead for emergency braking. After a bumper or structural repair it needs setting up again.

Parking sensors

Set into the bumpers. When a bumper is repaired or replaced, the sensors are checked so parking assist reads correctly.

Wheel alignment

Laser-guided alignment keeps the car tracking straight, improves handling and stops tyres wearing unevenly.

Questionsabout ADAS calibration and wheel alignment

Straight answers to what people ask us most. Can’t see yours? Call the workshop or send a few photos and ask.

Does my car need ADAS calibration after a repair?

If the repair involved the windscreen, bumpers or front-end structure, your driver-assist cameras and sensors usually need recalibrating. We’ll check what yours needs.

Does a new windscreen need calibrating?

If your car has a camera behind the windscreen, usually yes. Fitting new glass can shift the camera’s angle slightly, which is enough to throw off lane and braking assist.

What’s the difference between static and dynamic calibration?

Static calibration is done in the workshop, with targets set up in front of the car. Dynamic calibration is done on a set drive. The car’s manufacturer decides which one it needs, and some need both.

Why does wheel alignment matter?

Correct alignment keeps the car tracking straight, improves handling and stops tyres wearing unevenly.
